Our team of IEI architects, led by Luis de Pereda, has conceived, designed and directed the restoration of two emblematic buildings that exemplify the commitment to heritage recovery, sustainability and energy efficiency, and which have been opened for Open House Madrid in September of 2024.
Apolonio Morales 29: headquarters of the construction company Fernandez Molina, is a restoration project carried out between 2006 and 2009 for the comprehensive renovation of the 800 m² office building with a focus on technological innovation, bioclimatism, thermoactive structures, hybrid geothermal energy with heat exchange with waste water and monitoring of the performance of the systems to date. For this reason, this building obtained in 2021 the LEED EB:O+M Platinum rating with the highest score in Spain and the first LEED EB:O+M v4.1 Platinum in Europe, and in 2022 it was selected as one of the 8 most sustainable buildings in Europe by GBCI-Europe.
Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid (ICOMEM): this is a comprehensive restoration project, undertaken in phases while the building was still fully operational, for the recovery of the original heritage values of a building that is an Asset of Cultural Interest and the implementation of advanced solutions in accessibility, health, energy efficiency and functional flexibility.
In both projects, the experience and technical capacity of our team have been key to carry out complex interventions that balance innovation with the conservation of historical elements and existing structures with a circular methodology.
