What do a metro station, a municipal swimming pool and an old factory have in common?
They can become the energy heart of the city.
In July 2025, Luis de Pereda Fernández, managing partner of the Instituto Europeo de Innovacion and Eneres, and Manuel Moral Bonet, CEO of CELMOR Energy, explain it in their interview for the radio programme A golpe de bit Radio Exterior ‘Cities that share energy: the revolution has begun’ on RNE, with Raquel García Reyes and Diego Tavares.
Our main reflections:
* What is driving the real energy revolution is the return to common sense in resource management, leveraging the constant advances in information and telecommunications technologies.
* Today, we can air-condition buildings with moderate temperatures, store thermal energy underground or in the mass of buildings, and exchange it collectively.
* The challenge is not only technical: the key lies in management, storage and understanding that consumption is also part of the energy system.
At the IEI, we are working to transform the city model: healthier, more efficient and more social.
We invite you to listen to the full interview in Spanish to learn about our vision of more efficient, social and consistent cities, and how architecture, together with technology, can lead this change:
